Campus Sustainability Assessment

What is an Assessment?

A Sustainability Assessment is a document that elucidates and evaluates the ecological performance, resource use efficiency, and overall sustainability of the structures and operations of a given institution.
Campus Sustainability Assessments have been undertaken worldwide for nearly two decades by many of our peer institutions, including UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, Yale University, and many others. Over the past few years, these assessments have become increasingly common, and there is rapidly growing consensus on what subject matter should be included or at least considered.

UCSC is pleased to announce the publication of its first Sustainability Assessment. This collaborative report celebrates the university's many successes and identifies areas for improvement for making the campus more sustainable.
