People Planet Power Summit
Formerly known as Inter-Org, the newly retitled People Planet Power Summit is happening this Spring.
PPP 2024 will take place on April 12th-14th at UCSC & Camp Campbell YMCA, where UCSC students, staff, alumni, and faculty will spend the weekend sharing meals, learning leadership skills, making new friends, and strengthening existing relationships.
The theme for this year is “Building Intentional Movement And Embodying Radical Rest.”
The theme inspires work toward sustainable action as a community while prioritizing rest, self-care, and collaboration.
At this year’s retreat, we hope to dissolve interpersonal barriers, build unity, center those who deserve rest the most, strategize effective movement building, and care for ourselves while advocating for each other and the Earth!
During the retreat, a variety of workshops and talks will be held. Workshops are mainly student-taught group exercises and activities that aim to channel the theme, “Building Intentional Movement And Embodying Radical Rest”.
Some examples of workshops include native plant identification, teach-ins, and nature journaling. The retreat also features a variety of community-building activities like hikes, an open mic, and pool time.
Several panelists and speakers will be presenting and we are happy to host our keynote speaker, Patty Krawec, the author of many works including “Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call To Unforgetting The Past and Reimagining Our Future.”
Starting on campus Friday evening the retreat will then move to Camp Campbell YMCA on Saturday morning where we'll stay until Sunday afternoon.
Up to 100 students, faculty, and staff will be involved in this retreat. Food, housing, and all activities are all free!
