Water
Water use efficiency is a key priority for UCSC. The Central Coast region is subject to annual wet and dry seasons and a seven-year drought cycle, water need and water availability do not always coincide. Santa Cruz County receives its water from local sources. These environmental conditions have led UCSC to take steps to minimize the campus' impact on the water supply. A Water Audit is underway to determine overall water use and to identify key steps to improving performance. The results of the study will be available by 2008. In addition to this Water Audit, a separate study related to water reclamation has also been launched. To learn more about the reclaimed water study, click here.
