This Earth Day, April 22nd, 2018, the student-led Zero Waste Team will host the 4thAnnual Campus Cleanup! Campus Cleanup is a one-day, large-scale volunteer event that was largely inspired by concerned students who wanted to take action to reduce litter found across campus. Each year, Campus Cleanup draws in over 150 student volunteers and results in an enormous amount of litter removal; in the past three years combined, our dedicated student volunteers have removed over 765 pounds of litter!

Waste and litter deeply impact not only the students and the local environment, but also pose a threat to native wildlife on UC Santa Cruz’s Campus. Through Campus Cleanup, the Zero Waste Team seeks to promote a culture of sustainability, to provide Zero Waste education, and to motivate students to take environmental action and beautify our campus.
