OUR TEAMS

The Carbon Neutrality Initiative Team works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on campus by collaborating in the design and implementation of a variety of programs and projects. Our current areas of focus include Communicating Carbon Neutrality by 2025, PV on East Remote Parking Structure and the Cool Campus Challenge.

The Education & Outreach team works to foster a culture of sustainability at UCSC by sharing the campus' sustainability stories; engaging students, staff and faculty in campus sustainability efforts; and providing campus-wide advocacy for sustainability. They provide information about why sustainability matters and support for taking steps to live more sustainably.

The Green Labs Team runs both a certificiation program and an education and outreach initiative that implements energy efficiency, waste reduction, and purchasing programs in campus labs.

The Green Office Team seeks to be a reliable and informed resource for a diverse array of environmental justice and sustainability goals. The Green Office Team offers the UCSC community metrics for reflection and growth in the area of sustainability in the form of the Green Office Certification Program, Green Office workshops and other outreach efforts. We strive to encourage faculty and staff to become aware of sustainability issues and offer appropriate tools to engage with those issues. The Green Office team is committed to upholding and enhancing the larger sustainability missions of the UCSC community.

Student Sustainability Advisors (SSAs) are peer-to-peer educators who serve UC Santa Cruz's residential housing areas. These 8 student leaders provide programming and educational opportunities within UC Santa Cruz’s residential communities around sustainability topics, share events and information with the residents of their communities about sustainability and environmental behavior, and serve as sustainability liaisons within CHES (Colleges, Housing, & Educational Services). SSAs also implement annual projects on campus that forward campus sustainability goals, strategies, and one-year actions as guided by the 2017-2022 Campus Sustainability Plan.
