PolyCarbin
Labs that have been certified by the Green Labs Program can now have access to
enhanced recycling of single-use plastics with PolyCarbin!
Steps to get involved:
1. To qualify, your lab must be located in one of the following buildings:
- Physical and Biological Sciences
- Earth and Marine Science
- Thimann Labs
- Natural Sciences 2
- Sinsheimer
- Biomedical Sciences
- Interdisciplinary sciences
2. Get Green Labs Certified by contacting greenlabs-group@ucsc.edu
- The process only takes one hour and grants your lab access to many free resources!
3. Once certified, email the Green Labs Group or your own Green Labs Contact and request a box be delivered. Service will be delayed in the summer.
4. Start recycling conforming materials. Remember, most rigid plastics can go in UCSC's regular recycling bins. This service is capturing smaller, unique items that fall off the sorting line at our recycling facility, ReGen Monterey.
5. When your box is full, fold the edges closed and seal it, then leave the box out in the hallway for PBSci Receiving & Delivery to service. Email Receiving & Delivery if you need expedited pick-up.
- Boxes will not be picked up if they are in the lab space, so be sure to put them in the hallway.
What else does PolyCarbin Offer?
PolyCarbin sells plastics made from your recycled materials, and the more we recycle with them, the more of a discount we get on their products!
